How to Celebrate Your Team
Anyone who has ever built anything great knows that you can’t do it alone…
You need the support and skills of those around you, whether you employ permanent staff, contractors, or work with external suppliers.
As the end of 2017 approaches, there is no better time to start thinking about how you can celebrate your team who have dedicated their time and experience to help you and your business grow throughout the year.
At End2End Events, we work with a diverse and amazing team – some of whom have been with us from the very beginning, and others who’ve come on board more recently. We’ve organised many fantastic events in 2017, and we could not have done it without the team’s commitment to providing the highest quality service. We feel blessed that we’ve had the opportunity to work with them All!
If you feel the same way about your team, and the people who work with you to provide your service, there are a number of ways you can show your appreciation before things wrap up for the year.
Thank You Parties
“Christmas parties” have lost their lustre, with many staff avoiding or begrudgingly attending them, just for old time sake.
Shake it up this year, and take a more inclusive approach, by renaming your “Christmas” or “End of Year” celebration to a “Thank You Party”
Not only does the name reflect the true spirit of the event, which is to thank your team for their efforts, but it also opens up exciting new avenues for themes and activities.
For example, you might encourage a “secret thank you” game – where instead of typical secret Santa presents, staff write a note to a person who was particularly kind or helpful to them during the year, which they can give during the party.
Traditional team building activities have also become so over-used that many staff shudder at the thought of attending one.
In our experience, people love being involved in events where they can learn and gain inspiration from outstanding mentors who share their secrets and offer tangible career advice or motivational stories.
Instead of planning a team building activity where everyone runs around, jumps through hoops, and collapses on the floor at the end of the day, organise an Inspirational Day instead.
Ask for advice on sourcing local speakers or a motivational coach, and break it up with a catered lunch or post-event drinks so everyone can mingle and chat about what they’ve learned.
There is no shortage of amazing people to choose from, and the experience will leave your team feeling grateful, inspired and enthusiastic before they head into a new year.
Reward their efforts
The “end of year bonus” is still a highly popular way to show your appreciation to full-time staff who have given their blood, sweat and tears during the year.
If you have a small budget, however, this can be unachievable. But it doesn’t mean you should bury your head in the sand and give nothing.
Think outside the square for novelty items that will surprise and delight (without being offensive), or award-like gifts that show your true appreciation for the work they do. If you’re stuck for ideas, try searching online distributors such as Gifts Australia for a unique and personalised range of items that create smiles, or make a task they do at work that little bit easier. For a more Corporate approach to Gifting search Events Plus diverse range of items, and remember whatever you chose to make it about them!
We hope these few ideas will help you make your team celebrations even more exciting this year, so you can finish 2017 with a bang and start 2018 alongside a collection of happy faces who are ready to give their all for another year of business!
